Ingredients
800g Beef mince
200g Streaky bacon, finely chopped
1 Onion, finely diced
2 Cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 Tsp Wholegrain mustard
500g Passata or similar tomato sauce
400g Crushed tomatoes
A few splashes of Worcester Sauce
250ml Red wine
50ml Cooking oil
Salt and pepper
Method
Preheat oven to 200C
Pound together the beef mince, streaky bacon, onion, garlic and wholegrain mustard.
Season with salt and pepper.
Once fully combined roll the balls into golf ball sized pieces.
Note: When you have all your balls rolled, you are looking to cook the meatballs in a pan or tray which is deep enough to take the liquid and also which can be placed straight in the oven.
Heat your pan or tray with the cooking oil.
Add the meatballs and colour completely on the outside.
Add red wine and reduce by 2/3’s.
Add the rest of the ingredients and re season.
Bake the meatballs for between 30-45 minutes until the meatballs and the sauce are blistered on the top and the meatballs are firm without being hard.
