Baked Pork Chop with Apple and Cheese Topping

This recipe is made inspired by Amanda’s beautiful free range pork at Farm Gate Produce Ltd She can be found at Hobsonville farmers Market on Saturday and Sunday and Parnell Farmers Market on Saturdays.


Ingredients – Serves 4

100ml Cooking oil

4 Farm Gate Produce Pork Chops

1 Large apple

50g Sugar

200g Cheese (A cheddar styled cheese)

Salt and Pepper


Serving Suggestions

Serve with some garlic and rosemary roast potatoes, honey roast carrots and your best gravy!



  1. 1. Pre heat an oven to 200°C.
  2. 2. In a frying pan heat the oil and when the pan is hot carefully add the pork chops, seal until golden brown on both sides.
  3. 3. Meanwhile quarter the apple and take out the core. Now finely slice the apples.
  4. 4. Lay the apple slightly overlapping so you have two layers and then sprinkle the sugar on top.

  5. 5. Slice the cheese do not grate it. Lay this on top of the apple.
  6. 6. Bake the pork for approximately 20-25 minutes but the time will vary depending on the size of your pork.
  7. 7. Serve hot with your chosen accompaniments.
